Health Retreat FAQ’s

If you’ve got questions about SOL Food Health Retreats, check out the Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs) below. If your question still remains unanswered, please don’t hesitate to drop us a line.

You might (and you might not). Some participants find by honing in on hunger and their relationships with food, they start to eat an amount of food that’s less than what they currently eat normally (which can result in weight loss). Please note: our focus is not weight loss but on exploring how, when and why you eat.

Our next retreat is being held in early 2019.  Register your interest now and we’ll update you when specific dates are confirmed.

After you secure your spot on the next retreat, you will receive a link to our online contact details form. Our Retreat Coordinator will then be in touch, usually within 48 hours, to discuss further details and to find out more about you. Our Retreats are highly personalised, so we want to be sure we understand and meet your individual needs.

Unfortunately due to the logistics involved with organising retreats, payments are non-refundable. If for some reason you are unable to make it at the last minute, you can transfer your booking to another person or towards one of our future retreats. For each retreat, we will announce a date when bookings and payments are due. If you have any difficulty in making an up-front payment but want to secure your spot, please contact us to arrange a payment plan.

Whilst you are on the retreat you shouldn’t have any additional costs. All food, accommodation and activities are included. This is with the one exception of alcohol.

No. We find our retreat attendees find it much easier to organise their own flights. We do arrange all airport transfers from the Gold Coast and Ballina/Byron airports (the closest airports). For further details about airlines head to Gold Coast – Coolangatta and Ballina-Byron Bay airport websites.

Of course! We want you to enjoy your food on this retreat, so we will be asking you about any special dietary considerations at the time you book your place.

Anyone who wants to have a healthy relationship with food, feel happier about life, and deal better with day-to-day stress. It’s also ideal for anyone who wants to enhance his or her body image, self-esteem and avoid dieting.

Unfortunately, these retreats are not suitable for anyone with an eating disorder or who are not medically stable. Please contact us if you are in any doubt about your suitability to attend.

It’s delivered by a team of trained health professionals with university qualifications, who currently see people every day to provide them with practical support for a healthier life. In addition to their Degree qualifications, the team are also trained in Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy and Mindfulness-Based Eating Awareness. Additionally, the team also individually committed to striving to practice mindfulness in their lives (it’s always a work in progress).

SOL Food Health Retreats are also unique because they are pure luxury – there are no bunk beds in sight and no sharing with people you don’t know. They’re set in gorgeous surrounds with amazing food.

When coupled together, all of these factors make these retreats, truly one-of-a-kind. There is no other health retreat in Australia like these. Not only was SOL Food the first Mindful Eating Retreat in Australia, but also every retreat is personalised, meaning we tailor the retreat to the participants who are attending.

Although we have included some time each day for relaxation, we strongly suggest you don’t use this for sightseeing and shopping. We want you to go home relaxed and unwound! If you haven’t been to Byron Bay before, we recommend you add on extra time before or after the retreat to explore the local attractions.
