The core focus of these Retreats is to teach you skills in mindfulness and mindful eating, while being pampered and having a break from your everyday routine. Just like SOL Food’s online course, the SOL Health Retreat philosophy is also based around changing your health, not your body weight.

Just like mindfulness, mindful eating is being in the moment when you eat. It involves really listening to your body and learning to trust your body’s cues for when and how much to eat. There is no guilt involved with mindful eating and there are no “right” or “wrong foods”. Mindful eating allows you to observe what kinds of foods you might feel like at certain times and in certain situations, and recognising why that might be the case.

Mindfulness helps you to:

  • Have more awareness of your body (including how food affects you)
  • Be less reactive to life’s challenges (it’s particularly awesome for anxiety)
  • Improve your self-esteem and levels of self-acceptance
  • Enhance your health (e.g. blood glucose levels, blood pressure and cholesterol levels)
  • Gain more awareness of your surroundings (including other people)
  • Boost your attention and concentration levels

With respect to food and exercise, mindful eating removes the ongoing stress or focus that often happens when we try and stick to diets. Mindful eating can create a life without:

  • Feeling guilty about eating something
  • Worrying about the latest fad diet
  • Fixating on “bad’” foods
  • Constantly weighing yourself
  • Feeling disappointed with the number on the scales
  • Counting calories
  • Hating exercise

We draw from three core principles to help put the “SOL” back into your life. At this retreat, you’ll have the opportunity to:

  • Learn and practice mindfulness through yoga, meditation and mindfulness workshops
  • Acquire mindful eating skills by learning to eat with all senses, eat intuitively according to  your body’s cues and discover how to tackle sabotaging habits
  • Explore mindful movement by discovering how physical activity affects you (both physically and emotionally) and how you can retain exercise in your life in a way that feels good to you.

SOL Food Health Retreats are ALL INCLUSIVE, offering:

  • 3 nights and 4 days in a luxury private villa accommodation
    Use of all retreat facilities including a gorgeous pool to unwind in
    Return airport transfers from Gold Coast or Byron Bay airports
  • All delicious and nourishing meals and snacks, including your pre-retreat dinner on the night of your arrival and farewell dinner at one of Byron’s renowned restaurants.
  • Eight workshops on mindfulness, mindful eating, and health
  • Daily yoga sessions including the chance to learn meditation
  • Daily mindful movement sessions, designed to help you find enjoyable forms of exercise that suit you

Each retreat has a maximum five to eight spots, to ensure an individually tailored experience. A typical day looks something like this:

  • Morning yoga session with our SOL yogi. Note: you don’t need to have done yoga before as we cater to all levels of fitness and abilities
  • Two to three practical workshops, exploring our core philosophies of mindfulness and mindful eating
  • Exploration of mindful movement with our SOL health coach and fitness trainer
  • A pampering session of your choice with one of our SOL therapists, such as massage, kinesiology or a beauty/spa treatment
  • Free time to reflect, relax and unwind
  • An outing to one of Byron Bay’s illustrious eating establishments

Sol Food health retreat accommodation

The accommodation has been hand-selected to be peaceful, luxurious and just out of Byron Bay central. It truly is beautiful to ensure you won’t be disappointed.

Our retreat accommodation is nestled in two acres of tropical gardens and lawns in a property just a few minutes out of central Byron Bay. Our chosen location ensures you have a proper chance to relax without the hustle and bustle of Byron’s town centre, yet you’re still close enough to enjoy the amenities of the town and beautiful beaches.

Each private villa offers timber floorboards and a king or queen-sized bed with Italian marble ensuite (including separate shower and bath), relaxed lounge, timber deck, and sweeping views of the Byron Bay lighthouse, ocean and the nearby rolling hills. You will also enjoy a 100-year-old fig tree on the grounds, and a gorgeous, relaxing swimming pool that you are welcome to enjoy for the duration of your visit.
